• Intel Core i5-430um Processor

The latest model in the Aspire Timeline series of Acer, the TimelineX 1830T features new Intel Core i5-430UM processor that makes this ultra portable laptop one of the most powerful in the market that delivers almost 6 hours of battery life.

It looks close to being identical with the Aspire One 721 netbook with similar svelte profile but it weighs a little but more. It is very carry and the dual core horsepower is truly worth extra few ounces.

Acer has ditched its fingerprint magnet glossy lids for black matte cover. The deck inside looks like brushed aluminum. As with its predecessors, the bezel is glossy black and keyboard is matte black. Its six-cell does not bulge out its back and rather it bumps out of the bottom.

The 1830T is slightly warmer compared to 1810TZ. After watching a 15 minute video, you will likely notice that the touchpad and area right between the keys G and H is warmer.

Keyboard and Touchpad
Like any other Acer notebooks, 1830T keyboard has flat and non-beveled FineTip keys with slightly textured feel. Its layout is close to full size and the right Shift key is quite larger and positioned in the right place.

The touchpad is situated with the deck and is demarcated by two lines on both sides. It measures 2.6 x 1.5 inches which is a bit small and you’d be swiping more than you want to move around the desktop. Its accompanying sliver buttons are nice and crisp.

Display and Sound
Its 11.6 inch display offers 1366 x 768 pixels resolution that is standard for its screen size. This implies less scrolling when you view web pages or documents and have it viewed in high definition content in 720p and with very bright screen. However, its glossy finish can create reflections that are too distracting.

The speakers are found on the underside of the front lip of the desk. However, this placement can cause sound to be muffled while placing the notebook over the lap.
