Tritton Unveils Wireless Xbox 360 Headphones

Somehow the folks at Tritton were able to finagle Microsoft into planting a security chip into their upcoming Warhead headphones. Yes, the same security chip that makes other headphones require additional dongles to be connected to Xbox controllers. And yes, that means the Tritton Warheads are able to surpass the typical dongle-connectivity other Xbox-centric headphones are plagued by.

And ever since we first reported on them last year, they’ve been the hottest headset with no sign of a release date.

Tritton is touting these premium headphones as the only 360 headset to be trulywireless, and while that’s enough of a selling point, Tritton made the Warhead a compelling headset even outside of their wireless-ness.

The Warheads boast a 5.8GHz transmitter, 7.1 surround sound, and a very comfortable set of cans.

Tritton’s premium headphones also come with a rechargeable lithium ion battery. Two, in fact. One charges in the transmitter while the other is in the headphone, making nonstop play possible without ever having to plug in the headphones.

All these features will cost you somewhere in the $299 price range (but we’re told “under $300 does not necessarily mean “$299.99”). Most importantly, the Warhead’s will finally be getting a release date – sometime in summer.

When a firm release date is finally established, we’ll definitely let you know.
