HTC Windows Phone 8X hits AT&T tomorrow

HTC's Windows Phone 8X will be hitting physical and virtual shelves at AT&T tomorrow. The 16GB version can be snapped up for $199, while the 8GB iteration is priced at $99.

The device boasts a 4.3-inch 720p HD display (1280 x 720 pixels), as well as an ultra-wide, 2.1-megapixel, 88 degree front-facing camera and 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The phone can also be purchased at Verizon, as pre-orders for the handset start tomorrow at the rival carrier for $199.99 with a new two year contract. However, the Verizon version of the phone won't ship until around Thanksgiving, so it is pretty clear that AT&T has somewhat of a head start here.

Verizon will also be offering two additional 4G LTE smartphones, including the Nokia Lumia 822 for $99.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a new two year contract) and the Samsung ATIV Odyssey.

As TG Daily previously reported, Windows Phone 8 (previously codenamed Apollo) is the second generation of Microsoft's Windows Phone mobile operating system. It was released to manufacturing on September 14, 2012 and went live for the general public on October 29, 2012.

Devices are currently in the process of being launched by four primary companies: Nokia, Huawei, Samsung and HTC.

Key features include NFC capabilities, backwards compatibility with Windows Phone 7 apps, a revamped Wallet hub, device management, BitLocker encryption and over-the-air-updates.
